Requesting a remark of your result

If you believe a subject wasn't marked correctly, you can ask WAEC to have it remarked. Here's how the process works.

   Start with your school, not WAEC directly

   WAEC does not accept remarking requests directly from candidates. School candidates apply through their school; the school forwards the request through the district examinations officer to WAEC. Private candidates should ask at their nearest WAEC office about the private-candidate process.

   Decide which subject(s) to request

   You can request a remark for specific subjects rather than your whole result — most people apply for the subject(s) where the result seemed unexpected.

   Pay the remarking fee

   There is a fee per subject, and it does apply even if the remark doesn't change your grade. The exact current amount varies by source and can change — confirm it directly at your school or WAEC office rather than relying on a fixed number here.

   WAEC retrieves your script and re-marks it

   Once your request reaches WAEC, they retrieve your script and have it reviewed by a chief examiner, independently of the original marking.

5. 5

   Wait for the outcome

   This review is usually completed within a few weeks, though it can vary. Your grade may improve, stay the same, or in rare cases go down — WAEC does not guarantee a specific outcome.
