How to Buy a BECE Results Checker

A BECE results checker works the same way a WASSCE one does: a serial number and a 12-digit PIN, sold as a pair, delivered by SMS, and usable up to three times on WAEC's official BECE portal. The exam differs. The mechanics of buying and using the checker don't.

Most households buy BECE checkers at one of two moments: well ahead of time, as insurance against results day chaos, or in a rush on the day results actually drop. Both work fine. Buying early doesn't check anything early, since the code stays inert until you use it.

Buying a BECE checker

   Choose BECE and your quantity

   One checker per candidate is the rule. See below for why sharing one code between two children doesn't work the way it might seem to.

   Pick single or family pack

   If you're checking results for more than one child in the same exam year, a family pack brings the per-checker price down compared to buying that many single checkers separately.

   Pay by Mobile Money or card

   Mobile Money is what delivery is built around and is typically the fastest route.

   Receive your serial number and PIN by SMS

   Usually within seconds of payment clearing.

Why one checker can't cover two children

The serial number and PIN aren't linked to a specific index number at the point of sale. That only happens the first time the code is used to check a result, which means it will technically accept whichever index number is typed in first.

WAEC's system allows three total attempts per code, all counted against that first index number. Use it on your older child's result and there's nothing meaningful left for your younger child's.

A family pack exists so each candidate gets a genuinely separate code, each with its own full three attempts, at a lower combined price than buying them one at a time.

You don't need the index number to buy the checker

This surprises some buyers: you can complete a purchase without having your child's index number in hand yet. The checker doesn't ask for it at checkout.

The index number only matters later, when you actually check the result on eresults.waecgh.org. Having it written down and ready before results day still removes one more thing to scramble for.

If payment goes through but nothing arrives

This is uncommon, but it's treated as urgent rather than routine, since it involves money that's already left your account. Check your SMS inbox first, including any folder your phone might route unfamiliar numbers into.

If several minutes pass with nothing, don't try the payment a second time hoping it resolves itself. Report the original transaction instead. A second payment creates a second problem to untangle rather than fixing the first.
