How to Check Your WASSCE Result Online

WASSCE results in Ghana are checked at one site: ghana.waecdirect.org. Not a Facebook page. Not a WhatsApp bot. Not a similar-looking site with an unfamiliar domain.

Our own checking page runs through the same WAEC system. The result itself is always generated on WAEC's servers, never ours.

Before you check, have three things ready: your index number, and the serial number and PIN from a results checker. If you don't have a checker yet, see our guide on buying a WASSCE results checker first.

The checking process, field by field

   Go to ghana.waecdirect.org

   Any normal browser works. Chrome and Safari both run fine on a phone, and there's no app to install.

   Enter your index number

   Exactly as it appears on your exam documents. This is usually a 10-digit number specific to you.

   Select the examination type

   Most people choose WASSCE School. Private candidates choose WASSCE Private instead, which changes which fields the form asks for next.

   Select the examination year

   The year you actually sat the exam, not the year you're checking in.

   Enter the serial number

   Type it exactly as sent to you, letters and digits both.

   Enter the 12-digit PIN

   Again, exactly as sent. This field is the one most sensitive to a single mistyped character.

   Enter your date of birth, if you're a private candidate

   School candidates checking WASSCE generally don't see this field at all.

   Confirm your index number and year, then submit

   The form will ask you to double-check both before it processes the request.

Why it might say "invalid"

This is the most common problem people run into, and it's rarely the code itself. Serial numbers and PINs are long strings of characters typed on a small screen. Certain characters look nearly identical on many phone fonts: a zero and a capital O, a lowercase l and the digit 1.

If your check comes back invalid, retype the serial number and PIN by hand. Compare each character against the original SMS rather than trusting autofill.

The three-attempt limit, and why it's not per website

Every serial and PIN pair carries exactly three check attempts, total, for the life of that code. Not three on WAEC's own site plus three more elsewhere.

If you've already tried twice directly on ghana.waecdirect.org, you have one attempt left everywhere, including through a reseller's checking page. WAEC enforces this itself, so switching where you check from won't reset it.

If WAEC's site is slow or won't load

In the hours right after WAEC releases results nationally, ghana.waecdirect.org sees heavy traffic. That's a capacity issue on WAEC's side, not a problem with your checker or your connection.

A page that times out or spins before you've submitted anything generally hasn't used one of your three attempts. Waiting for a quieter window, later at night or early the next morning, usually works better than refreshing during the first rush.

Once you have your result

Save it. Screenshot it, download the document if you're offered one, or write down your grades somewhere durable.
